FAQs

  • I first learned to weave at a Saori freestyle weaving workshop with the wonderful Terri Bibby. The rest I learned from practice, experimentation and YouTube!

  • I love my 20 x 20 inch loom from Funem Studios. I create my mega woven wall hangings on a giant Lost Pond Loom.

  • For spinning my own yarn, I buy online at DHGshop for all my materials. In Victoria, I shop at both Knotty by Nature and the Beehive Wool Shop. I love to explore yarn shops when I travel so I also pick up special goodies from all over. One of my favourite online shops to find gorgeous handspun unique yarn is Knit Collage.

  • I handweave every piece in my studio and it takes many hours! The larger works can take weeks at a time to complete, hang and prepare to ship. Items listed in the shop can be ready for shipping within 48 hours. With custom work, the lead time will vary.

  • If you already know what you’re looking for, please contact me for information and details and I will make you the weave of your dreams!

  • No classes are currently offered.

How to care for your woven art

Your wall hanging is a fine quality handwoven product that will last many years. Do not hang in direct sunlight. As with any work of art, direct sunlight will fade the piece over time. Do not hang by open doors or windows. Try to keep your wall hanging in one location without a lot of transfer. Keep away from pets and small children.

Once hung in your desired location on the wall, use your fingers to gently comb out tassels and put yarn back in place. Do NOT tug on the fibres or tassels.

Your artwork will generally not need any deep cleaning. Lightly dust weaving every so often if desired. Spot clean only if necessary, blot dry, do not rub or agitate the fibres. Do not wash or dry clean.

If you ever have any issues with your piece do not hesitate to contact me directly at juliemccrackenart@gmail.com.
